Do we need trance music? A

Do we need trance music? A Serious Warning is in order.

I heard someone on the radio say something like: "Lucifer persuaded one-third of the angels to rebel against God. Now, THAT'S quite a power of persuasion. How could we, humans, be sure we could easily resist his persuasive delusions?"

There is a new genre of music and so-called "worship" out there right now called Ekstasis, and it is supported and encouraged by prominent ministers part of what they call the "Extreme Prophetic" stream. Some leaders advertize it as the next new thing, some people like it a lot, while others can't even listen to more than a few seconds before they feel defiled. How naive are those who think they can play with the occult and escape falling away? Rationalizing weirdness doesn't change the essence of that weirdness, only its perception.

I would simply like to invite those who are comfortable thinking this is basically about cultural differences or music tastes, to read the following excerpts of an article about trance music available online. It's written by someone who studies trance and teaches how to create tools to induce it. My goal is to offer information that could help dispel the lies before they become an accepted cultural phenomenon in the Church. We've been abused long enough by nasty winds of doctrines. Are we going to be found running, gyrating or mushing with the large crowds on the wide road to perdition? God forbids.

Read on... but be prayerful as you do, and consider what you would do if you found yourself in a conference and this music was blasted through the sound system... I do believe that God-originating spiritual trances happen, but also that artificially-created trances are a tool for manipulating others. Be mindfull of the arts you expose yourself to. Yes, it requires work, and this work is what develops mature men and women in the faith. Otherwise, we remain children and adolescents. While we sleep in the light, the world draws us into its matrix.

Blessings,

Andre

Trance Inducing Music
by Dennis R. Wier
Director, The Trance Institute, Bruetten, Switzerland

'Pure' trance inducing music is simple to produce. All that is needed is at least three or four (or more) individually engaging rhythms. Some kinds of reggae music does this, so do the canons of J.S.Bach. In much so-called generic trance music only two rhythms are used, and only occasionally three. The 'engaging' aspect of trance inducing rhythms is important. What may be 'engaging' to one person may be repulsive to someone else. Repeating rhythms can be perceived as 'boring' but it is precisely this 'boring' aspect which is the precursor to trance. If a rhythm is 'engaging' and not boring, then trance is certain to occur. How to make a rhythm engaging is implied by trance theory.

One important characteristic of successful trance inducing music is what trance theory would call 'modulating the dissociated trance plane'. The music of shamans and many aboriginal tribes create effective music which modulates the dissociated trance plane by slightly varying the underlying trance generating loop.

The fundamental repetition is the trance generating loop (TGL) and the variations in each repetition results in the modulation of the dissociated trance plane. It is for this reason that the sounds of nature tend to produce trance. The type of variations within the TGL determine to a great degree the effectiveness and depth of the trance.

When there is some 'subtilty' or artistry in the creation and modulation of the DTP, then the trance is compelling and there is an increase in the trance force.

THE ROLE OF REPETITION

The trance force is a measure of the strength of a trance in units called a 'wyrd'. (Andre: the meaning of - wyrd - : 'fate', 'destiny', 'that which is to come'. Also: " The web of cause-and-effect that permeates the universe. The Germanic/North European equivalent of 'karma'"). Without going into too much technical detail here if some assumptions are made and results simplified, the wyrd is proportional to the log of the number of repetitions of a loop and inversely related to the number of elements in a loop. Wyrds are additive, so the trance force increases with more than one loop. The range of values of the wyrd are pretty much what you would expect in a musical setting.

A loud, heavy beat is not necessary. Loudness or heavyness is not of itself productive of trance.

Repetition produces trance. But it will be the type of repetition which is 'engaging' or which produces an involvement with the inner reality. In some trance music - such as goa - there are multiple loops, some of which are subtle. Subtle loops tend to bring the attention to a finer focus. The resulting splitting or dissociation results in trance. But that is not the whole story. What 'subtle' is to one person may be different for another. The effect - which is to say, which cognitive functions are disabled - is another story. (bold and underlined by me, Andre). Again, this can vary between persons listening to the same music. Another consideration is the order in which cognitive functions are disabled, and finally, what additional processes are being encouraged when these cognitive functions are disabled. In other words, how is this state of mind being used?

One of the reasons that 'trance music' works to produce trance is that there are long periods of the same loop or loops. The long repetitions add to the wyrd logarithmically. This is generally not enough, so secondary loops are invariably added to increase the wyrd and make the music successful as a trance producer.

TRANCE: BREAKING AND ENTERING INTO SOULS

At the point that a deep trance is produced, subliminal messages could be introduced with effectiveness. The content of the suggestions should be carefully crafted to empower. Suggestions will also affect the music producer.

Most instances of trance music do not allow sufficient time for deeper trances to develop, as complexities are introduced too quickly. Remember, in shamanistic trances, drumming would go on for days. Subtile changes in the rhythm and melodic structures over time will produce deep trances because it is the 'subtilty' which is engaging. (bold and underline by Andre) Commercial trance music should continue for a minimum of 20 minutes to induce deep trance. Perhaps we are all fortunate that such long trance music riffs almost never happen.

Trance theory mentions secondary trance loops and multiple dissociated trance planes. (bolded and underlined by Andre). I can show you how this has a musical equivalent. It is possible to produce schizophrenic-like behavior from music alone.(bold and underline by Andre) You don't want to do that, right? (italics by the article's author)

It is also possible to produce 'addictive trance music'. Jeez! Why would anyone want to do that? (italics by the article's author)

NOW, WHAT?

The author's last two comments are very telling to me. It seems as if he was winking... As if he wanted to appear "tongue in cheek" but in reality telling us we can follow this recipe and it would work, and we could subtely control people through trance music. He can't come right out and say it... but we can hear it in his comments.

The question remains: once you have created the trance, what then? We know the answer to that, don't we? This is very important, because we are assisting at the birth of a new deformation of Christianity, one that is building a tower to the heavens, engaging people through complex marketing methods. The New Age overtones associated with post-Renewal doctrines and methods is too obvious to miss anymore. How far are regular folks gong to follow the leaders who advocate this strange Gospel? Political-correctness has seized the Church too, and we're blamed for telling it like we see it. Calling a sin a sin, and a delusion a delusion.

I am urging each of you to consider this: once a system is established and well deveopped, is God still necessary in the picture? Or is He like the British Monarchy, a prop? If He is God, then let's consider smashing the idols, let's consider exposing the delusion, let's come out and offer an alternative to the lies, let's present a front to fight and contend for truth, for one of the few times in Church history.

This is not about a boring battle of music tastes, but a necessary request for accountability and genuineness of the Gospel that is preached, and the true goals sought, even if those in the picture don't see they are being used and abused by a system they themselves have become dependent upon: where are the true apostles and prophets?

I pray this has provoked healthy questions in you, and that you will find your footing in the Lord Jesus Christ, as the Holy Spirit of God will lead you into all truth.

Blessings, and much love in Christ,

Andre Lefebvre
