Jesus Christ is the Anointed One and EVERY Christian shares in His anointing, not just a select few.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth…
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.” - 1 John 2: 20 + 27

It is worth noting that the apostle John debated in person with Gnostics of his day, and he had Gnostic thinking in mind when he wrote this letter. The Gnostics sought to rise to a higher, more spiritual plane, didn't care about personal ethics, and believed their "pure spirits" could not be tainted by "earthly" sin. Thus, they could act any way they wanted. Sounds a lot like the Lakeland shenanigans to me.

Beliefs must be judged by the actions they produce. True fellowship is not a mystical, super-intellectual flight into the great Alone, but a relationship with the Father through Christ. And that also entails responsibilities to others in God's family, not dependence upon on a few so-called ‘anointed’ ministries or people.

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to brotherly love and wholesome living, and we are to heed the Biblical principle of the Anointed One, with everyone sharing in Christ’s ministry.
